Car of the Week - September 22nd, 2011
Sometimes a first car is a faded red Mercury Topaz or a decrepit Dodge Aries. But as in the case for Luke Wallace, some people find a keeper. He still has his first car, a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle.
Luke has kept it stock with the base 307-ci V8, Powerglide transmission and even the factory steel wheels. The engines were rated at 200 hp when new, keeping it relatively easy to handle for newbie drivers. The Mulsanne Blue paint appears to be in remarkable condition, and the same can be said about the exterior chrome and moldings.
The 1970-72 Chevelle is arguably the most attractive and desirable midsize car ever produced. Recent sales data for Chevelles of those years have averaged between $17k and $28k depending on condition and options. However it’s doubtful that Luke will be looking to part with his anytime soon.
To all - we wish you a safe, warm, and happy holiday season!
