Sports Car Market has chosen Richard Saunders’ 1949 Triumph 2000 Roadster as the Chubb Collector Car Insurance Car of the Week!
Richard is what you would call a long-term owner. He’s had this gorgeous blue ’49 Triumph since 1969. And for the first ten years of ownership he used it as a daily driver. Over the extended ownership period, he’s taken her from Cornwall to Scotland. “I have travelled all over the British Isles in it.”
The car’s flamboyant styling is elegantly presented in this professional studio photograph. The car’s hallmarks include three abreast seating, prominent fenders and a deeply inset radiator and grille. The session was a gift from a friend upon Richard’s retirement. It was restored in 2004, what Richard calls a “nut and bolt” job, and it appears stunning.
Recent sales data has shown good to excellent 2000 Roadsters averaging $24k to $45k each. Although there’s little chance Richard will be parting with his anytime soon.
