The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is a car lover’s dream.
“My definition of an elegant car would be ‘the kind of car I would like to be buried in,’” said famed photographer Ansel Adams, who once served as an honorary judge of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Indeed, no matter what your definition of automotive elegance, this event is bound to provide a sterling example of it. On the third Sunday of every August, classic car lovers descend upon the 18th fairway of the famed Pebble Beach golf course in Carmel, Calif., to show off, purchase or simply ogle some of the most gorgeous automotive creations in history. “It is the crown jewel of auto events in the world,” says David Gooding of Gooding & Company auction house, “the most important weekend if you’re into classic cars.”
