Car of the Week - June 16th, 2011
Keith Martin's Sports Car Market has chosen the 1966 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova of Ron Cott as the Chubb Collector Car Insurance Car of the Week.
The Chevrolet Nova’s second generation received slightly rounder edges and a less angular roofline than the previous ’62–’65 generation. But what made these cars really fun was their relative lightness. A curb weight of well under 3,000 lbs and an optional V8 gave this compact plenty of go in a straight line. It’s no wonder anytime you visit the dragstrip plenty of these cars are lined up.
The bright blue paint is a surefire attention grabber, and the body looks to be straight and rust-free. A 327-ci small-block powers this beast, with a claimed 325 horsepower running through a Powerglide 2-speed auto.
A total of 19,600 Chevy II Novas with V8s were built in 1966. Good examples have been selling for almost $19k, and excellent condition originals have been bringing almost $32k.
